An entrepreneur at heart, Henok has been recognized as one of the Young African Leaders under the prestigious YALI-RLC-EA & Mandela Washington Fellowship programs in 2017. His journey in these programs included participating in two separate 12-week leadership boot camps in Nairobi and San Diego, California, focusing on business and entrepreneurship. His achievements include winning the Reach for Change-Ethiopia’s accelerator program and securing first place in the National Startupper of the Year Challenge by TOTAL. Additionally, he was the People’s Choice Award winner in a jam session organized by hackthecd.org and the City of Seattle, WA. His commitment to global and community development is further demonstrated through his service on the United Nations National Youth Advisor Board, complementing his recognition as one of the 100 Most Influential Young Africans in 2016. His professional background is diverse and extensive, spanning areas such as print and electronic media, social services, Human Centered Design & Design Thinking, Lean Startup methodologies, health promotion, and event planning. He is also experienced in organizing promotional expos. In his previous role as Founder/CEO of a company, he led the recruitment of over 400 tutors and masterminded territory management and franchise development strategies. His approach emphasized delegating managerial positions based on qualification, seniority, territories, and sales geography. Currently, he is volunteering as a Community Development Advisor Committee member for Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich. In this role, he is dedicated to fostering community engagement and development, bringing his extensive experience and leadership skills to contribute to the vibrant community of Montgomery County.
