DC Department of Human Services (DHS) is offering a funding opportunity for organizations that can provide high quality navigation and coaching services and other family and career supports for participants in DHS’s new Career Mobility Action Plan (Career MAP) program. The newly launched opportunity will identify key partners for this pilot, which will be designed to provide resources directly to families who have experienced homelessness, are committed to pursuing a career, and are at risk of losing cash, food, health care, child care, and housing benefits more quickly than their income can cover these lost resources (also known as ‘benefits cliffs’).
The program seeks one or two partners that have the capacity and expertise to quickly begin serving 150 or 300 families.
DHS is seeking applicants that have the ability to:
- provide intensive, one-on-one navigation and coaching services using an evidence-informed model;
- convene and facilitate small peer support groups;
- provide additional career and support services both in-house and through partners;
- customize services to the needs of different participants; and
- demonstrate past success in helping families achieve their goals and increase earnings as documented in previous work.
Ideal partners will already be operating exemplary programs similar to the scope of this RFA, but be willing to adjust some aspects of their model in collaboration with DHS.
